D's Banana Pudding
Ingredients
1 Box Nilla Wafers
2 boxes Vanilla Instant Pudding
4 Cups Milk
1 Pint Heavy Cream
4 large Bananas(preferable ripe but not brown), sliced*
*Trifle Dish or Large Glass Bowl
Instructions
Separate the Nilla wafers by whole cookies and any broken cookies you find.
In two bowls, prepare the vanilla pudding according to package directions. Immediately place a piece of plastic wrap against the surface of each bowl of pudding. This helps prevent a film from forming. Chill until set, about 5-10 minutes.
Combine both puddings into one bowl and set aside in fridge.
Whip the cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the cream into the pudding until no streaks are visible. Transfer to two piping bags or two 2 gallon Ziploc bags. You can also spoon the mix into the trifle dish. The bags just give you more control to make for a pretty pudding.
Start with a layer of pudding mix. Carefully stand the nilla wafers up in the pudding facing out around the circumference of the circle. This will help frame the pudding and shows off what’s inside. Add a layer of cookies over the cream. Next add a thin layer of cream, then some sliced bananas. Continue adding layers of cookies, cream and bananas, ending with the cookies.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 5 hours or ideally overnight to allow the cookies to soften and the flavors to meld.
